How long do screens last? How do I know I need to replace my window or door screens?

Windows screens can grow brittle and rusty over time. Screens typically last 8-10 years, depending on sun damage, usage, and exposure. When your screens begin to fade, rip, or no longer fit snugly within the frame, it may be time to replace them.

Wore out or damaged screens reduce the integrity of your windows and the curb appeal of your property.

If your screens wear out sooner than expected, consider Sun Control screens to help prolong their use.

Can you buy window screens already made? Do you ship screens or other products?

Which is better solar screens or window tinting?

Screens are much more effective at reducing heat than window tinting. Window tinting is applied directly to the glass, which still allows the glass to heat up and transfer that heat into your home. Screens go on the outside of the windows, shading the glass, and ultimately reducing the amount of heat entering your home.

What is the best way to wash my screens?

Start by removing the screens from the opening and lay them on a flat surface (a driveway, lawn, or patio works great). Use soapy water and a soft rag to gently clean both sides of the screen, including the frame. Be careful to avoid putting too much pressure on the fabric, since this can cause the screen to loosen and sag. Rinse both sides and repeat as needed. Let air dry before re-installing.
